Happy Birthday Rob!

Today is a very special day – it’s Rob’s birthday.  And his first as a dad.  To celebrate, he wanted to just chill out, go to the gym, watch football…not things he gets to do very often.  We also drove into Lompoc for some ice cream, which we were told was ‘clean’.  No additives, preservatives, or anything hazardous to your health. Are we in California or what?  And we saw a hybrid car parked next to ours as we were leaving the ice cream shop.

If anyone has the chance to come visit, we’d love to see you.  And we’ll take you up north to San Luis Obispo…lots of families and college students roaming the streets with their kids/dogs.  I just drove up there the other day to pamper myself at a very chic salon.  There really is any kind of shopping you’d like; a Mac store, Barnes and Noble, bread shops, day spas, and lots of trendy clothing stores.  It’s fun to get away once and awhile up there.  Next time I may convince Rob to come up with me!

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving weekend and didn’t get up too early on black Friday…

Happy Thanksgiving

This year Rob and I were treated to a wonderful dinner at casa Sterns- BBQ’d turkey, apple/bacon/nut stuffing, spicy peppery cranberry salad, and corn salad.  Then home-made apple and pumpkin pie for dessert.  Rob and I are still full and happy.  Sterns are also John’s Godparents and love to shower him with love and attention.  Abigail got to give him his bottle for dinner and she did a great job!    dsc03192Daddy and John before Thanksgiving dinnerdsc031691

John on Film

For the holidays this year, we would like to get a nice camcorder to capture all John’s “moments”…but for now, I can use the recording function on our digital camera.  It’s not great quality and only has memory capability for a few minutes.  This is the latest video – I shot it a couple days ago – the light is not great and resolution could be better, but I did get a good smile from him!

Milestones

dsc03140It’s a rainy day here at Vandenberg and I’m lucky to have this thought warming my heart: John slept through the night last night!  The first 8.5 hour sleep he’s had.  Ditto for Rob and I. Here’s a photo of the activities immediately preceeding the wonderful sleep.  I think I was changing his diaper after a bath.  He was getting ready for story and prayer time in his yellow sleeper.

Outings

We have been taking John Daniel out in his stroller quite a lot.  His car seat fits right in the stoller and he’s snug as a bug.  The doggies come along walking beside me and John…if you saw the four of us cruising along you’d laugh.  It’s fun:)

Eagles Fans I’ve posted some new photos on the photos page – including this one with Rob and John watching last Sunday’s Eagles game.   He’s already a football fan!
